Things to do in and around Mossel Bay

Enjoy our long pristine beaches - for a leisurely stroll! Go Scuba- diving, deep Sea Fishing or White-shark Cage Diving. The freshest seafood in the country served at various restaurants in our area. Our Malaria Free Game Farms offer a great variety of entertainment for all. Helicopter flips over the greater Mossel Bay area are just as popular for sight seeing!

Further north there is the renowned town of Oudtshoorn - home of the world's largest bird namely the ostrich! When visiting the ostrich farms, you could even try to ride one. The cheetah & crocodile park enables you to view these magnificent animals from up close and for the brave of heart you can even do a cage dive with a crocodile.

The world famous Cango Caves, only a 10-minute drive from Oudtshoorn, can be visited during the day. Wine tasting can be done on the estates along the Garden Route as well as in the Klein Karoo. An exciting experience is grape picking during February where you can indulge in the amazing sweet taste of the Hanepoot grape.

Mossel Bay Zipline

The zipline which is 1100m long is described to be “1.1km of screaming fun” and runs from the cliffs of Cape St Blaize to the shark lab at the point. Costs is R450 pp and no children u/6 allowed with a maximum weight capacity of 120kg.

Diaz Water Park

The Diaz water Park, situated at Diaz Beach is a one-stop family fun park with a fast track water slide, one of the first built in South Africa, a giant indoor heated pool with slides and various outdoor slides. They also offer birthday parties and pool parties. This is the perfect spot to beat the heat and your children will love you for it – forever!

Botlierskop Day Safaris

Mossel Bay Food Route

Discover a world of tastes in one district! Without travelling too far you can experience an amazing variety of taste sensations in and around Mossel Bay. Menus vary from gourmet (try the menus created by talented chefs Stefan Jamneck of Transkaroo. Restaurant and Emile Nel of Villa Point) to traditional (Sunday lunch at Stoepsit near Boggomsbaai should be booked well in advance).

Mossel Bay Historic Walk

Put on your walking shoes and discover the historical buildings and facts in the Old Quarter of Mossel Bay. You can pick up a map at the Mossel Bay Tourism office that will mark all the historical buildings along Mossel Bay's Historic Walk. Some of the buildings you will see include churches, schools, homes, municipal and commercial buildings as well as the Cape St Blaize Lighthouse all of which were built between 1830 and 1900.

Walking with Lions

An opportunity to accompany and interact with lions. A once in a lifetime experience, no leashes just a wild nature adventure. There are lots of time for beautiful photo opportunities!

Our Catwalk (walk with the lions) is one of the pleasures we like to share with guests. Lions are one of South Africa's most majestic predators and one of the famous Big 5 animals in the world. We raised the cubs and give them, on a daily basis, the opportunity to experience the wild and pleasure of the farm.

Strawberry picking @ Redberry Farm

Choose a container size at the farm stall and head off to the strawberry picking rows where the real fun begins.

There are different strawberries to choose from - we grow Californian varieties Honour, Splendour, Virtue, Commitment, Albion and Valour. Each variety is unique with differences in size and taste. The sweetest strawberry is bright red, eaten fresh from the fields at room temperature.

Cango WIldlife Ranch

Since 1977, Cango Wildlife Ranch has been able to thrill its visitors with its variety of animals and breeding programmes. It is a facility offering far more than the average zoo. Cango Wildlife Ranch believes in conservation and they know it is vital to protect all species for the generations to come. By educating the public, they try to ensure that the message of conservation comes across and that visitors, both young and old, realize just how fragile our planet is and how vital it is to conserve endangered species before it is too late.

Cango Caves

29km from Oudtshoorn, at the head of the picturesque Cango Valley, lie the spectacular underground wonder of the Klein Karoo - the Cango Caves. Situated in a limestone ridge parallel to the well known Swartberg Mountains, you will find the finest dripstone caverns, with their vast halls and towering formations.
